General: your community's announcement channel

General is the announcement channel of a community. Every member is in it from the day they join; there's nothing to subscribe to. See it with pictures on the General page.

Who posts: the owner and admins. They tap Create a note for every member… at the top of General, write up to 5,000 characters, add a photo if they like, and post. Members get a notification and see it in General and on the community's Home.

What members do: Like, Comment (up to 1,000 characters, with their picture beside it) and Share (a link to the post). Moderators and admins can pin a post to the top, or remove a post or a comment, from its ⋯ menu.

Slow mode: in Admin → settings, admins can make members wait between comments (30 seconds up to an hour). Moderators and admins are never slowed.

Who can read it: members always. People who aren't members only if the admins switch General on under What non-members see; they can read but not comment, and General's posts can then show on your profile and in Explore. If it's off, General's posts never leave the community.

General, Spaces, Circles or Audio rooms? General is news from the leadership. Spaces are topics where members post too. Circles are private chats for small teams. Audio rooms are live talks.
