Community: start one and run it
Community is for churches, NGOs, schools, clubs and associations with many members, a bit like a Facebook group with a channel, run by your own admins. Any account can start one on the Community page (or, on Business, from Your site by choosing the Churches and NGOs kit); link it to your own site and it also opens there, at /community, on your own domain too; it gets its own address, such as naapp.tech/c/grace-chapel. Free up to 200 members; Business has no member limit and adds Circles.
What members get: General, the announcement channel (admins post, members like and comment, and every member gets a notification); Spaces, public ones anyone can read and members-only ones that never leave the community (not in Explore, search, share previews, the digest, Nana or the MCP server); Events; the member list (never with phone numbers); and Circles, private rooms with their own chat for teams like the choir or the board (on Business, up to 50 people each for now).
What non-members see: a home page with your name, pictures and a line about you, and only what your admins choose: General (read only), About, Contact, public events, the member list, and a Join button. Until we've verified who runs the community, it shows a notice; verification removes it.
Audio rooms: like Clubhouse, inside your community. Admins and moderators tap + Start a room on the community's Home, give it a name (Sunday Q&A, Midweek Bible study) and go live. The host can bring up to 4 members on stage to speak at a time; everyone else listens. A listener taps ✋ Raise hand to speak, and the host taps Bring up (or taps anyone in the room and Invite to speak); Move to listeners sends a speaker back, and a speaker can step down with Back to listening. A green ring shows who is talking. Leave quietly to go; the host leaving, or End room, ends it for everyone. Rooms are for members only, run phone to phone (nothing passes through our servers and nothing is recorded), and hold up to 20 listeners for now; bigger rooms come with our relay.
Room chat: while a room is on, everyone in it can type: questions for the speakers, prayer points, amens, links. On a computer the chat sits beside the room; on a phone tap 💬 Chat (a red number shows what you missed). The host and speakers are marked, the host or a moderator can Remove a message, and the chat goes when the room ends: nothing is kept.
The feed: General and every Space look like a group's wall: Create a note… opens the composer (words and a photo), and each post has Like, Comment and Share (a link to the post), comments with each writer's picture, and a ⋯ menu for moderators to pin or remove. Home shows the About card (open, approved or by invitation; members; who runs it), the members' faces, upcoming events and Spaces.
Joining: open to anyone, by approval (with up to 5 join questions, such as "Which branch?"), or only by invite link. Anyone with the invite link joins straight away; make a new link to stop the old one.
Being found: a community anyone can join, or ask to join, is listed in the Community directory, in Explore → Communities and, when it's busy, in Trending → Communities (ranked by new members, then posts, then comments, for today, 7 days or 30 days). A community joined only by invite link is private: it isn't listed anywhere except for its own members.
Admin tools (Admin tab): approve or decline requests with their answers; settings (name, logo and cover, about, contact, how people join, what non-members see, slow mode, Spaces); the invite link; banned members; and insights (members, new joins this week and month, posts, comments, active members, the most active). On the Members tab, admins make moderators, the owner makes admins, and moderators and admins remove or ban those below them. Moderators and admins pin and remove posts. Slow mode makes members wait between posts and comments (moderators and admins aren't slowed).
View as: admins can preview the community as a non-member, a member or a moderator (the owner, as an admin too) before changing anything. Nothing you do while previewing changes your role.
Giving and tickets: take offerings, tithes and donations with Giving, and sell paid event tickets with QR check-in.
More on each part: General, Spaces, Circles and Audio rooms, each with its own page on Community.
