Day and night, the African pattern, emoji packs and flags

Day or night: tap the round ☀ / ☽ / ◐ button in the header to go Day → Night → Auto, or choose under Account settings → Day or night, in the menu on a phone, or in the menu under your picture on a computer. Day ☀ is the warm ivory paper; Night ☽ is #NotesApp maroon with ivory writing, easier on the eyes in the dark; Auto ◐ follows the clock, Night from 6:30 in the evening to 6:30 in the morning. Your choice stays on this device. Your own site keeps its own look, and Naija Exam Prep and the Notes Life game keep theirs.

The African pattern: line drawings of talking drums, the ogene and agogo gongs, the kora and shekere, Nok and Benin bronze heads, an Igbo-Ukwu bronze vase, Queen Idia's mask, kente, adinkra, an old hurricane lantern, danfos and kekes, the naira, maps of Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and Egypt, and more. It sits behind every chat (messages, group chats, Circles and the team room), and is the cover on a profile, a community or a site until a picture is added: maroon on ivory by Day, ivory on maroon by Night.

Your own chat background (Pro, Business and Enterprise): under Account settings → Chat background, or Chat background in a chat's menu, choose the African pattern, plain, one of six colours (Kente gold, Adire indigo, Forest, Sahel sand, Atlantic, Hibiscus) or upload your own picture. Only you see it, in every chat and on every device; a soft wash goes over a picture so messages stay easy to read. On other plans the choices show with a 🔒 and Unlock.

Emoji packs: open 😊 in a chat. Everyday has the usual emojis and ours (:na:). Afro culture has our own drawings (the drums, gongs, bronzes and maps), Faces has everyday faces in one colour, and Flags has every African country's flag and many more. These are free on every plan. Summer, Spooky and Celebrate come with Pro, Business and Enterprise: they show a 🔒 and Unlock, which opens Plans and prices. Pack emojis are maroon crimson by Day and warm ivory by Night (flags keep their own colours), and white inside your own crimson bubbles. Anywhere that only shows words, like the inbox or an email, they read as their name.

Flags and maps as you type: type a country's name ("Nigeria", or just "Nig") or its code in capitals ("NG", "GHA") and a row above the box offers its flag, and its map when there is one. Tap to put it in: a code turns into the flag, and a name keeps its word (finished for you if you cut it short). Codes only count in capitals, so words like "in" or "us" never set it off.
